Clay Club
The beating heart of our creative clay community, Clay Clubs are run as weekly 2.5 hr sessions for members. Club membership is aimed at those who want to explore wheel throwing, hand building, glazing and firing further in a friendly and supportive group environment. It’s the perfect option for anyone who wants to take up Pottery and Ceramics as a hobby, use the sessions as a relaxing escape, or perhaps create work to exhibit or sell.
Our Clubs are run as 'open' sessions which allow members to work on anything they want to in any area of Pottery and ceramics. Although there is an emphasis on independent practice and exploration the sessions are overseen by one of our experienced teachers meaning that there is always a tutor on hand to help guide you. Our teachers also give weekly demonstrations to the group to help broaden knowledge and experience with materials, techniques and processes, they are always happy to take requests for demonstrations if you wish to try something new.
Based in our large, well equipped teaching studio, Clay Clubbers have access to 9 wheels, a large hand building table (6 people), large slab roller and extruder, slip and hand building moulds, Clay prep and recycle station, large Glazing area with over 30 glazes and a range of slips, oxides and underglazes and glaze making materials and equipment. We provide a wide range of tools and equipment for throwing, hand building and decorating. Membership includes use of our 'house clays' and access to three types of firing (electric, gas and Raku).
