Service Description
Wednesday night Clay Club is aimed at those who want to take up Pottery and Ceramics as a hobby or perhaps even further. The idea behind Clay Club is to create a group of like minded people that want to explore pottery and ceramics. These sessions will be run as group sessions for up to 8 people but with an emphasis on one to one, differentiated tutorial support instead of group taught lessons; Students will be encouraged to take on their own projects or explore their own personal pottery interest and Joe will provide individual support to help students achieve their goals. Clay Club will also feature talks and demos on a range of techniques and no doubt lead to outings to galleries and shows. Students will have access to clays and glazes, tools and equipment including 6 electric wheels, 1 kick/treadle wheel, 4 hand building stations, extruders, moulds, Raku Kiln, Electric kilns. Students will have a shelf space to store work. Students can bring in Clays, glazes, tools and equipment of their own to use as long as it has been checked first by Joe. If you are new to pottery its suggested that you complete the 4 week wheel throwing course and the 8 week pottery skills course prior to joining clay club so that you have a good base knowledge of pottery skills to use on this course. Clay club will run in 8 week blocks that will be bookable on a rolling basis with priority given to existing students. Cost is £210 per person, students will have to pay extra for firing of pots to cover firing, clay and glaze costs this will be determined by weight: £5 per 1kg of fired pot (e.g. a teacup is around £1) If students wish to use their own clay and glazes then a firing cost arrangement can be agreed. Block 1 runs from April 27th - June 15th 2022 sessions run from 18:00 - 20:30 pm
